Built by Community, for Community
In 2006, a shared vision became reality. Founded in honour of NHL coach Roger Neilson, the hospice reflects his values of compassion, teamwork, and most of all — community. With the support of the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club, the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), and the CHEO Foundation, alongside 300 companies and 75,000 members of the public, Roger Neilson Children’s Hospice opened its doors in Ottawa, becoming Canada’s second pediatric hospice palliative care provider.
Thanks to the support of a generous community, Roger Neilson Children’s Hospice has become a home-away-from-home for children with progressive life-limiting illnesses and their families.

Twenty years on, our commitment to family-centred, specialized care remains unwavering. This milestone is celebrated through our campaign: Cherished Lives. Lasting Legacies. We recognize the families, visionaries, community partners and organizations who have supported us from the beginning — and those who have joined our journey along the way.
With our community beside us, we look towards a future where pediatric hospice palliative care meets the needs of every child and family in our region.
20th Anniversary Tie Ambassador Campaign
Why a tie? To honour the occasion, our commemorative anniversary tie pays tribute to the legacy of Roger Neilson – a beloved coach, mentor, and community champion who believed deeply in giving back. Known for his vibrant signature tie collection, his ties came to symbolize his humility and warm spirit.
